Apple MacBook Pro Review
Apple MacBook Pro
The Apple MacBook Pro is the first Apple Mac notebook built upon the revolutionary new Intel Core Duo, which is actually two processors engineered onto a single chip. The Intel Core Duo provides 2MB of Smart Cache, L2 cache that can be shared between both cores as needed. It delivers higher performance in 2D and 3D graphics, video editing, and music encoding. And the new engine is only part of the story. The New MacBook Pro has a frontside bus and memory that, at 667MHz, runs faster than any previous Mac notebook. It’s the first Mac notebook with PCI Express, a Serial ATA hard drive and the ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 for superfast graphics performance. Apple are taking orders for the new mac book pro now and it is expected that demand will initially be high.Your Comments/Opinions
'Are apple still selling the powerbook G4? Might be worth getting one if you need firewire 800, its got a higher resolution display than the macbookpro.'simon
'I am disappointed by the specs on the new Apple MacBook Pro, but I cannot say that I am surprised. It's based on an Intel core and and Intel Chipset. No Intel based manufacturer that I am aware of supports FireWire 800, and Apple didn't feel the need or didn't have the time to develop new hardware for the Macbook pro.'shill
'Has Apple started shipping the mac book pro yet? I can't find any mention of delivery times on the apple website.'paul_waterhouse
'I've just ordered a Macbook Pro from the apple uk website, i will report back soon, cost £1,429.'john
'The Apple Macbook Pro has incredible heat issues. Poor battery life. Questionable feature drops & additions. Same high price/limited availability issues as before. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that all the advantages we were promised with this whole Intel move are coming up largely empty.'zuton
'I can get 3 hours wireless online use out of my new Apple macbook pro, I turn it on in the morning and use it wirelessly until lunchtime when I charge it for just over an hour. I then get another 3 hours wireless use in the afternoon and it gets left on charge overnight. I've been doing this on a daily basis since i got my Macbook. Whenever I have to use a PC notebook I always find the battery performance poor compared to Apple notebooks. And all PC notebooks seem to be set to drop the network connection every couple of minutes to preserve battery life. If you think the battery on the Apple Macbook pro is poor, please let me know of a machine of simular spec that has a better battery life. The Macbook Pro has it's faults, I would have liked firewire 800 for example, but battery life isn't one on them! 'martin
I got the macbook a week ago. On day one i had real trouble using it. But i have to say that overall this laptop is amazing absolutely brilliant i would recomend it to any one.......much better than microsoft and windows!5409
the macbook rocks my socks off!apple*girl
For me the most impressive thing is that Tiger will sync with all the devices that Panther would not with my G4 ibook. I can now sync my Nokia 6320 and Motorola V600 with the Mac Book Pro using bluetooth. About time!! I do think panther users should get these drivers free as well though.JPmac
3 years ago I became an apple owner for the first time when I bought an Ibook G4, It took a bit of getting used to, but once I had mastered OS X I really enjoyed using it. Sadly I had to get rid of the Ibook because I was doing a lot of work on Sage Line 50 which is only available for windows. When Apple recently announced 'Boot Camp', a program that lets you dual boot into Windows XP and OS X I was straight down to my local Apple store to pick up a mac book pro.The mac book pro is a brilliant notebook, battery life is less than my last apple notebook, but this is a far superior machine. Rumour has it that the next version of Boot Camp will let you run OS X and Windows applications at the same time without having to reboot, which is something that i am looking forward to because it does take a few minutes to switch from one operating system to the other.
The mac book pro has a really good display better than anything that I have seen on any other notebook. The design of the macbook is amazing, how they manage to fit it all in a case that is less than an inch thick is truly impressive. There is no excuse for anyone to buy a PC notebook ever again. Yes its expensive but compare it with PC notebooks of the same build quality with the same features - the apple mac book pro is not a budget notebook.
Go out and buy a mac book pro today - you won't regret it!

I got my macbook pro about 2 months ago. I love the look, but I am disappointed with a few things. 1. I can't seem to play many dvd's on it. I am assuming this is because it's not double layer dvd. 2. The battery life is very poor. I get about 2 hrs on it. Yes i do have my screen on high, but what is a great screen if you can't see it clearly. I am a pc to mac switcher... My HP DV4000 had a 12 cell battery and yes it weighted a lot more but i got 6 hrs on a charge. 3. The system does seem to get very hot... this is especially true when placing on my bed etc. This was not the case with my HP laptop. 4. I just purchased a Dell Inspiron Dual Core 1.83 for my boss. It was only 1500.00 and it has double layer, approx 5 hr battery life and weights the same as the mac book.... hmmm... 5. I also would like to have seen them put a left and right clicker on the touch pad.... As a cross over person, it's annoying for me to have to hold down multiple keys to get the same result as one on the pc.Bruce Stenberg
