'Thanks to the 3x optical zoom and the 2-inch TFT colour display, the QV-R61 user can capture the water fun from a safe distance. In combination with the Direct On function, with which the camera is ready to use after approx. 1 second, as well as the shutter release time lag of approx. 0.01 seconds, the camera is extremely fast. So photography fans wont have any problem pressing the shutter release at the right moment for a lasting memory of that artistic jump into the water - in the high-speed sequence mode you can even record the entire event in one continuous motion. The new Auto Macro function, which switches automatically from normal auto focus to macro mode, enables fast and variable focusing. And if its too dark, the integrated flash with red eye reduction and the Flash Assist function provide the necessary brightness. Alternating between individual functions using the easy menu guide is childs play with the QV-R61.

I am very impressed. I checked some online reviews before buying this (those for the QV-R62 are for the same camera, apparently) and they sold it to me. Great build, pictures, zoom, macro + other features. For me, the best thing about this camera is that it can can be ready in about one second after being switched on. In real terms this means it is ready before you are, which is what you want if you are a capture the moment photographer rather than one that spends ages lining up a shot. You get 2100mAh batteries, a charger and a load of software you do not really need, because even in Win98SE the camera installs as a removable drive using the USB connection. So if you buy a large SD card with it you will never need to take it out of the camera.
