Epson Stylus Photo RX700 Review
Epson Stylus Photo RX700
The Epson Stylus Photo RX700 printer has a lot of really nice features, like being able to print from 35mm film, being able to scan images to flash media, being able to print CD /DVD labels, twin paper trays, really high resolution and high quality photos, 6 individual ink cartridges (so you only replace the color that runs out), lower ink/copy cost than HP.The quality of the output is amazing it works fine with Windows Xp but I was unable to get it to work with Slackware Linux and it is supposed to be Linux compatible.

'I have had the Epson RX700 for a few weeks and it is an excellent printer in all ways. I've printed, copied, scanned (photos, slides and film), used the memory card feature... and this is the printer, the best Epson printer, that you can get!I purchased an HP 3310 and a Canon 760 before this and returned both.
The quality overall of the Epson RX700 is far superior. I own an Apple MacBook and it works fine with the latest Mac OS X t. I couldn't get the HP 3310 to work with the any MAC OS and I'm glad I didn't because this Epson RX700 All-In-One is great for me. Faxing would be nice, but I'll take the quality of this Epson All-In-One over the faxing feature. Photos come out beautiful! For the price you can't beat the RX700
10/10 from me!'

'I got a new RX700 when they firtst came out and im really happy with it, been using cheap compatible cartridges with it - Not the expensive genuine Epson ones!!'mark_ward
Overall I am plesed with print quality and functionality - BUT - am now awating a second visit from the tech guy, already had one replacement within the first 6 months, probably going to need another! If you can any error messages saying Service Required, be quick! it will stop printing altogether in a matter of hours. It's probably going to be best to extend the warranty on this oneRoz
I bought this printer with the expectation of scanning slides at a reasonably high resolution and printing reference photos where color is critical. Although I use calibrated equipment and the proper profiles, the color is always over saturated compared to my hardware calibrated monitors. These issues don't exist when printing the same files at a commercial photo lab. However, the quality of the prints is very good for the size that it can produce, an 8.5 X 11 although they say it's not archival quality ink. The thing that really doesn't work well is the slide scanning when needing high detail. It simply produces way too much ghosting presumably caused by ambient light internal to the unit while it scans making it useless for landscape shots and also making the higher optical scan resolution capability equally useless for slides. It produces the same artifacts at 1200, 2400, and 3200 dpi so I might as well have saved the money and bought the RX620 or even the CX4800 since I can only get limited use out of the scans and 2400 dpi at this level would be enough. I haven't tried the reflective media scanning yet so maybe that's where the higher resolution pays off but I don't need that type of scanning very often so it doesn't help me. I think this unit is a bit over priced based on it's overall quality of capabilities and my rating of 7 factors this in although this thing couldn't score a 10 even if it was free since the film scanning needs much improvement.rich
