Hp Scanjet 5530 Photosmart Scanner Review

Hp Scanjet 5530 Photosmart Scanner

4800DPI Scanner from Hewlett Packard

The HP ScanJet 5530 Photosmart scanner scans up to 24 photos in less than 5 minutes - all with true-to-life results - at 2400 x 4800-dpi hardware resolution and 48-bit color. You can even scan your negatives and slides with the included adapter. Easily convert boxes of photos into scans for use within photo album pages, to share via email, or on CD with music and more. And restoring faded photos is a snap using the one-touch automatic photo-correction feature - for image quality that rivals the original.

Scanning your old photos used to involve laying out photos on the glass and a tedious process of selecting the photos. With this scanner, stick your photos (up to 20 or so) into the feeder, and it scans the pictures one-by-one and saves them as separate files, and crops them fairly accurately. Scanning hundreds of photos took hours. On the down side ... you still have to watch it carefully as the photos can stick once in a while. It takes up to 4 x 6 photos only. So the real large photos won't fit through. It is bulky because of the feeder, and is VERY noisy. That said, the result is your entire photo collection in digital format in record time

Your Comments/Opinions

My HP scanjet was only able to suck about 6 photos through the feeder before jamming - i'm not at all impressed with the 5530 - it will probably be on ebay next week!

Worked great for the first few months (I wondered what all the griping was about). Now it jams after every picture. I've cleaned, etc. There is clearly a sensor in these things that is not adjusted correctly.
