The Panasonic DMC-FX30 is a camera of deceptive proportions. At just 22mm deep it still manages to pack in a true wideangle Leica zoom lens and a CCD offering 7.2 million effective pixels.
The Panasonic DMC-FX30 has High Optical Performance!
The 3.6x Leica DC Vario- Elmarit lens has five aspherical surfaces (of the 7 elements in 6 groups)to ensure images are crisp and distortion is avoided. In addition to this, when selecting 3 megapixel resolution in "Extra Optical Zoom" mode, the zoom ratio can be increased to 5.3x, so improving zoom while still retaining a good level of detail.
The Panasonic DMC-FX30 has an Optical Image Stabiliser!
Being a pioneer of this technology in digital compact cameras, Panasonic provide an excellent system here. When the camera experiences shake, the OIS lens element adjusts its position to stay aligned with the CCD axis. This system is superior to digital image stabilisation because the recorded image does not need to be adjusted so there is no loss of image quality.
