The 3Com Open Services Module (OSM) Flexible Interface Card (FIC) integrates Open Services Networking (OSN) applications and services directly into the 3Com MSR 50 Series Multi-Service Routers and 3Com Router 6000 Family. With its 80 Gb hard disk drive, 1 Gb of memory and pre-installed, secure Linux operating system, the module enables a wide range of applications and services, to be installed directly into the network fabric. The powerful, flexible design of the OSM FIC extends the capabilities of the MSR 50 Series and the Router 6000 Family beyond that of just secure routing, delivering unprecedented application and services functionality while reducing cost of ownership. The OSM FIC uses industry-standard Linux, enabling it to support a very wide range of applications and services, including 3Com and third-party applications and those developed in the open source community.
