No hard drive is smaller than an IBM Microdrive, which weighs less than a AA battery and has a footprint of less than one square inch (6.5 sq cm). Using hard disk drive (HDD) technology to store information, the two-piece 4GB Microdrive has an industry standard Compact Flash Type II form factor allowing it to be used in a compatible Compact Flash slot in many devices. And it includes a PC Card adaptor for plugging it into a Type II PCMCIA card slot, which is standard on most currently marketed laptops and ThinkPad systems.
