The LiDE 500F combines breath-takingly slender design, outstanding functionality and an ultra-stylish finish. Drawing all the power it needs from a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection, the scanner's slim size and integrated stand allow you to operate your scanner in a variety of different ways - even upright. When the scanner is upright, a double hinge lid allows 'drop-in' scanning. With the stand folded away, open the lid completely out to scan oversize objects such as maps or posters. The lid also opens parallel to accept bulky items such as books. A 2400 x 4800 dpi CIS sensor combines with 48 bit colour depth to deliver high resolution scans, accurately reproducing every fine detail and subtle shade. The LiDE 500F features a super-compact Film Adaptor Unit (FAU) for scanning strips of 35mm film, with astonishing results. Canon's FARE Level 3 is the ultimate film correction system. Infra-red light detects the precise location of dust and scratches, later corrected with advanced software to save hours of manual retouching. Faded colour, excessive graininess and poor exposure can also be corrected with FARE technology. QARE Level 3 offers similar functionality and levels of correction for photo prints.
