I was a Quicken customer and found it difficult to use. I have used sage line 50 and instant accountancy in the past and didn't find either package suitable. I was actually going to buy a copy of instant accounts when i went to my local staples, but they didnt have it in stock. I ended up leaving with a copy of Intuits Quickbooks Simple Start which I find ideal for my small business but it does not deal with payroll or stock which is a shame, I didn't carry stock when I started my business but i am finding that increasingly I do. I will be looking at upgrading to the full version of quickbooks soon. With quickbooks simple start it is easy to find out how much cash you have and how much people owe you! This has helped me to clearly understand the financial health of my business. In particular, I am able to run reports that allow me to see where my key revenues come from and where your expenses lie.
