XE Trade use to have really good customer service but not so much anymore. Their rates usually beat the big banks but not all the time. Make sure you check the posted bank rate before making your trade!

Well I’d say that this site has left me in more confusion than when I started. I am looking for a cheaper than my US bank, Chase, to transfer money from UK to US on a regular basis. They are already ripping me off for $12 a month just to have the account that’s without their transfer fees, crappy exchange rate, and creative accounting. Between Barclays UK and Chase US, I’m just a lamb to slaughter. But after reading all these post I think I’ll just leave it the way it is…… Better half a lamb than no lamb at all!

This company rejected my registration to transfer funds and won't give me a reason or explanation. "It's a business decision" The didn't even notify me. I only found out when I emailed to see why my application was taking so long, I had send ID documents etc and was left 'hanging'. STEER CLEAR!

I am a Lloyds TSB customer, and have always used my bank for my foreign transfers, because I was just too lazy to look elsewhere for cheaper deals(!) But now that money is scarce, have shopped around, and found XE Trade. Have always used the website for currency exchange rate, never thought they were doing trade. Anyway, I've only used them once, but will definitively use them again for future transactions. Their pound/euro rate was very competitive (1.13 against Lloyds "best" rate of 1.08). Also, I did not pay a service charge (for sending or even receiving the funds in) and saved at least 100 pounds. Smooth transaction. Funds received within a week. Thumbs up.

There is no point for using them to transfer funds from one EC state to the next. I made a comparison when shipping Euros to Sweden. Handelsbanken only had a mark-up of 0.5% converting incoming EUR to SEK whereas FXTrade had 1.5%. Probably they are more attractive for USD transactions, but I did not try that.

30 transactions (<1000$), everything ok, can only recommend, one of the best customer services i had, no fee at destination bank (4 different banks), 10 days to show up on german bank account

I have used XE trade for many years and in several ocasions. I can only say they are great. They have always given me a better rate than my baks and I have transferred money from Spain to the US and Mexico. Once I made a mistake on the delivery method (oredered draft instead of EFT) and they corrected this with a simple phone call. Excellent service!

Don't like thier rates. I went with knightsbridgefx.com, their min is C$10k and they only work with Canadians.

I wouldn't reccomend them! I don't know about for personal use but any serious business should not use them. I signed up with them for business use can conducted a transaction to my supplier - it's been 23 days and my supplier still hasn't received payment. I have contacted them several times regarding it and thier excuses have been shambles (happy to elaborate by sharing communication exchnged between us). Needed my supplies to catch Christmas traffic - and still haven't received them. I have found other organisations that are faster, will talk to you over the phone to provide advise and address your concerns - these guys appear to have more industry knowledge and more ethical in their approach (most especially they do no lie!). I am in the UK and it seems these comments are being faked to attract useage I have found HiFX and Travelex to be more reliable and was even tempted to return to my exhorbitant bank charges. I am taking the matter further with, my bank - and am even suspect that they migt be scammers or on the verge of bankruptcy otherwise why would a company of thier so-called calibre do such a thing? I am a start-up business and consider any little loss a great loss. ps this is zero rating but website has forced a one star and i wouldn't even attribute that as compared to other companies they were slower in registration and seemed very dis-oriented and disorganised - nothing has been efficient in thw whole process and they kept making excuses about changing their forms online but still have not!

I'm so happy that I found XE trade. I have to send money from AUS to Germany and to the Cook Islands on a regular basis. It always works well, is fast and, esp. to the Cooks, much cheaper than any bank transfer I could find. Excellent service, very happy!

DONT USE THEM IF YOU ARE IN THE UK!!!! I used them on a regular basis but now that I have a problem (the money was sent to them a week ago but they saying it didn´t arrive) it is impossible to call them from a mobile number (and I don´t have a landline) and when I called Custom House (they advertise on the website that Custom House is registered with the FSA) they told me they could do nothing!!!!! I will NEVER use them again, it´s better to spend a bit more than to loose your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

XE Trade are great! True it takes a week or so to get signed up, but its worth persevering as the online service is top notch. I send money between NZ and UK, but also to Poland and its been a breeze every time. Depending where you send the money you may incur a fee, I think transferring to NZ from UK in the early days cost me £10, but they have since introduced EFT to NZ, so no fees at all! Trades are typically done in 4 working days (3 of which is the time it takes to transfer the money from my UK bank to their UK bank). Transfer time to NZ is normally overnight! They keep you updated with emails on the progress and you can log on to the web site to check the progress and trade history too. Excellent service.

When it works, it is fine, about 1% off the midpoint rate they display. When it doesn't work, it stinks. Their verification process is slow and they lose paperwork. I tried to transfer USD 17K to MXN that I need for a deposit on a home in Mexico. I had submitted the paperwork for verification of what was over 1 yr ago a new agcount. I got the message it was (finally) verified. They tell me know it was never verified, are asking me all over again for paperwork or a copy of their e-mail (which is on a failed desktop harddisk). Yes, I am looking for other options. Do not count on XE when you really need it.

Seems like a lot of spammers respond to this. I've used XE for a few months now, I've had no real issues. A bit slow if your getting them to debit your account, and a pain to cancel once you book, but 6-7 transactions have gone through (usually like 5-6 days from Canada to US) no fees, better rate then my TD. Seems fine, I'm sure people have had issues, but myself and my father never have and it's nice that there's always a live person to talk to when you call.

XE Trade is not worth your time. Terrible customer service. They insist that they know better than my bank on where my account was located. I told them that my bank should know which address is associated with my account. XE trade said, no, your account is in another province, we have the best database. DO NOT open an account or if you have one, close asap.

Do NOT, I repeat do NOT waste your valuable time and hard earned money by signing up for XE Trade. I have been doing forex for 7 years with different banks in Canada and abroad and decided to try XE Trade. My first trade turned into a 3 month nightmare where I wasted my time with 15+ phone calls and 35+ emails. I never received the funds in the end and they didn't follow my instructions and converted the money back without my permission resulting in a huge loss. Just horrible, I do not want anybody else to suffer through what I have so please do not even bother.

XE is great, I was very hesitent at first, I went as far as calling their insurance company on their reference letters to ensure they were legit. XE is owned by western union. I purchased a house in the US and did three separate wires through XE. The money arrived same day with no hassel, I broke it down into 3 100k payments just in case and it worked like a charm. I now do eft transfers to my Bank of America account and it takes on average 4 business days to get the funds. All this and I never have to step foot in a bank!!!! Oh ya and the rates are far better!Your rate can be lowered as well if you use it often or send larger sums of money. It saved me over 9k from my Canadian bank.

I've used XeTrade successfullly for some years, but recently a dollar draft they sent on my behalf to the USA was bounced due to 'lack of funds'. It took a long time to sort out (during which time my supplier, assuming that I had financial problems, stopped my account), and their response to emails was very patchy. This is rather worrying, and I'm not at all sure that I want to risk using them again.

I was promised 24-hour activation of my account after submitting the requested documents and doing my telephone verification. It's now almost a week and I am still waiting for my account to be activated while the exchange rate is getting worse by the minute. My calls and emails to customer services to try to get this resolved have been answered politely but not helpfully and I feel I am receiving standard answers instead of being treated as a valued customer. I can't comment on how good the xe.com money transfer rates are because these rates are not visible to people without an active account - catch 22!

I've just come to this site and XE Trade. 2 comments: (1) the 'Transfermate' reviews below are transparently spoof and should be ignored and removed. (2)I've just signed up and found it to be a careful, slightly lengthy process which has enhanced my feeling of security. I'll add mopre when I've completed my first 'trade' sending $$$ from the UK to family in the USA.

Lea, that's the banks charges not XE's. I'm sure you can do free low value wire transfers to your EUR account with xe, I'd recomend doin that. I've had very few problems with xe, and the ones I had were dealt with quickly and professionally. Also, to all the 'transfer mate' marketers posting here, if your going on here pretending to be real people who 'love transfer mate' instead of employees of them, maybe you shouldnt 'hyper link' the site in your post, it's sort of a give-away.

We have just made our first transfer on XE Trade from US to Germany. They didn't charge much, but it turned out that we only got 237 euros out of our 325 euro because the Bank of America where the check is written from charged 59 euros and my bank Berliner Volksbank charged another 28 euros. Before we found out we processed another check on several thousand euros which is now on it's way. We are afraid that it will cost us a fortune to cash it! Had any one had the same problem? How can everybody recommend it as the cheapest service?

Pretty good. Customer service pple reply to your email queries very quickly and are very helpful . No glitches, but beware that once you start a trade with them, it's hard to cancel it. But apart from that, I've used them to buy currency in large amounts and would highly recommend.
    Johnny Sutherland () 5.0 / 5 Mon 16 Mar 09
I would concur with the XETRADE review above. I've not had to cancel, but they have been very helpful. They do carry out quite a number of checks - bank details, reference etc. which is quite reassuring. I've started to use them after becoming naffed off with the high bank charges (at both ends) and low exchange rates.

XEtrade is great. It does take about a week to set up the account, because they need to run identity checks and call you to verify information, but that is a good thing! Doing the actual trade is a breeze. I transfer $$ from the UK to the US each month and overall booking the trade, including sending them the money using Internet banking, takes about 5 minutes. My money has always arrived in the US in about 3-4 business days and there are absolutely NO CHARGES (do you hear this Royal Bank of Scotland!). Plus the rates they give you are great, much better than the tourist rates offered by banks. Highly recommended, I have saved hundreds and the process is amazingly stress-free.

Xetrade has worked well for one account, however when trying to re-activate the second account there was a surprise. The old user id was locked and the only alternative was to start all over with a new account. Nothing wrong with that. However, the old user name was still an active entry in their database and couldn't be deleted (according to Customer Service). Not good. Keeping old id's is a programmer's error or a way to keep open a back door. Neither give me the confidence I need for a well-run shop...

Used XeTrade a couple of days ago. My first time to use internet foreign exchange service. Considered Paypal, and bank transfer. But xeTrade provided a very high exchange rate - I bit a exchange rate about one month ago. I sas a bit worrying about it,since I have to transfer funds to them first and wait until funds goes to my another account. But, surprised to find it is really good. I exchanged Euro to Sterling. Funds was in my sterling account only 2 business days after I sent Euros to them by Wired. Hassles free and fast replies by their Custom service. I would use them again.

beware their rates are terrible, you are better off with most regular banks... They will try to trick you by using their "mid vs market" rates, beware, in the markets these differences are usually very small and they present them as huge.

Don't waste your time trying to open an XE Trade account. It took me three weeks to get to the point where I could actually phone them to arrange a transaction - by which time they knew more about me and my financial details than I feel comfortable with - only to be told that it would take a further seven days for the money to get to its destination, which would have been too late! It took two days from my bank (I had no choice by then) and the rate wasn't that much worse.
    Nat () 0.5 / 5 Mon 16 Mar 09
I would not recommend to use XE Trade services. Their customer service is worst I have ever dealt with. In violation of their own privacy policy they lost all of my documents submitted via their "secure" file transfer.
    Ashley () 4.0 / 5 Mon 16 Mar 09
The rates are good. The people saying their rates are worse than regular banks must have a vested interest in another service because that's a blatant lie. Their interface is excellent, and you can cherry pick live rates at opportunte moments. Their free charts also allow for some decent analysis of the market, which also helps in picking the right time to make your transfer. I've got no affiliation to them, but it's a good service and I'd highly recommend it.

Used XE/cash one time, eventually got my currency OK, but FedEx delivered my package to wrong house. No signature, nothing, just a drop-off. When tracking down, found out FedEx has policy against shipping cash, only insures loss up to $100. So much for "All legitimate orders are delivered by registered courier and are 100% guaranteed."

I have used XETrade for a couple of years now. I had a problem with two accounts in the same name but that was sorted with a phonecall. The staff were polite and helpful. There is a lot of paperwork and checks to be done to open an account with them, but that is well worth it. They have offices in the US and London, and there are limits on the countries to and from which they will transfer funds. Check that you can do the transfers you need to do before trying to open an account.
    onmyown () 4.0 / 5 Mon 9 Feb 09
I've used xetrade for about 5 years - the rates are better than at my bank. They do ask for lots of information, but this is because of anti-money laundering legislation. Setting up an account does take a little bit of time, but once you have one it's an easy service to use.

I think there's a lot of "Transfermate" marketers on here, I agree with Ashley. It's a bit of a pain to start with but worth it as everything works smoothly at least US to Canadian. Cheapest and most convenient option, how often do those two come together?
